Chest-pusher takedown

Chest-pusher takedown is an interesting takedown that works upon the principle of nerve strangle and chest pressure.

Equip LightLegs.

Spread your arms to the sides, step past the opponent's right side with your left leg; turning your body to the right; so deep that your chest is pressing against the right side of his back.

At the same time, lift your right foot, rubbing its inside against the outside of opponent's left ankle. This is a high-energy point("Haaa!"). This applies a nerve strangle; the opponent has trouble standing.

Push with your chest into his back; together with the nerve strangle, this twists him and throws him down.

-

The takedown must be done using proper mechanics - Snake+LightLegs; otherwise the nerve disruption does now work (and the banda does not work).

The spreading of your arms allow you to use correct mechanics - LightLegs.

-

This banda works upon the principle of nerve strangle; when you press with your right foot against his left foot with LightLegs, it disrupts him and he falls on the ground. This is a rubbing nerve strangle; done by rubbing his outside of his foot with the inside of his foot.

-

Without the vocalization, the technique just a applies a nerve disruption. This works, but it is not as powerful.

-

The power of the throw depends on the force of the push with your chest.

-

This takedown was probably not used in Batuque, because it can be easily disrupted with both of its disruptor position. Instead, it was part of old Bahian capoeira.

This banda and the way the used it can be seen in the video with Querido de Deus

This banda was probably popular in old Bahian capoeiragem. Here is how you set it up in roda:

The opponent is in front of you. Equip Snake+LightLegs and spread your arms; then sweep to the left and forward with your whole body, aiming to touch opponent's left leg with your extended right leg. If you touch him (using the proper mechanics), this will create a nerve disruption; and the opponent is nailed to the spot.

Take advantage of this; quickly change the direction, moving onto your right leg; hitting the opponent with your chest and shouting "Ha!". This takes him down..

-

Note that this application has two parts: First, you nail the opponent to the spot with the nerve disruption (leftward sweep); then you throw him using the nerve strangle (rightward chest push).
