Heavy strikes

 1.Heavy slap

This is a special type of slap that is not a jab; its goal is knockout.

Unlike common slapping jab, which is done using Eagle+Seduction1, heavy slap is done using Bear+Seduction1.

-

Equip Bear+Seduction1, step forth with your right leg and slap externally with your right palm; hitting the area of opponent's left cheek between the ear and the chin. This is a high-energy point("Haaa!").

Done properly and with the right mechanics, this knocks him out.

-

Alternative target which also produces KO is the back of opponent's neck.

-

In old Bahian capoeiragem, this technique was applied in a huge arc, with the slapping hand almost reaching the floor at the end of the arc. This can be seen in the old videos of Mestre Waldemar de Paixao(1955) and even Querido de Deus(1937).

-

This technique is described in ODC(1907).

-

Compare it with an External slap; which looks similar, but uses a different mechanics(Eagle+Seduction1 vs Bear+Seduction1); different target(eye/ear vs cheek); and a different tactical use: External slap is a jab; and Heavy slap is a finisher.

External slap has the quickness, but lacks the knockout power; Heavy slap has the knockout power, but lacks the quickness of the jab. This naturally places them in different niches of the tactical scheme of capoeiragem.

 2.Heavy frontkick

This technique is related to the Heavy slap; it is a straight kick that produces knockout if done properly. It is also done using Bear+Seduction1.

Equip Bear+Seduction1 and kick with your toe into opponent's underbelly (not the groin; but the general area of his pelvis).  This is a high-energy point("Haaa!").

Done properly, this will knock him out.

--

Alternative target is opponent's tailbone.

--

This technique is described in ODC(1907); and also can be seen in Mestre Waldemar de Paixao's video (1955).

-

Compare this technique with Pontape; which uses a different mechanics and has a different effect - Pontape is an organ crusher; Heavy frontkick is a knockout blow.

If you do not want to injure the opponent, I suggest using Heavy frontkick instead of Pontape.

  3.Heavy uppercut

This technique is related to the two above; it is an uppercut done using Bear+Seduction1 mechanics; the result is a knockout.

Equip Bear+Seduction1, step forth with your right leg and strike with your right fist under opponent chin.  This is a high-energy point("Haaa!").

Done properly, this causes a knockout.

--

This technique is described in ODC(1907).

-

Compare this with Uppercut jab; which uses a different mechanics (Eagle+LightLegs vs Bear+Seduction1); has a different effect (nerve disruption vs knockout) and thus a different tactical use: The first one is a jab; the other one is a finisher.

Uppercut jab has the quickness, but lacks the knockout power; Heavy uppercut has the knockout power, but lacks the quickness of the jab. This naturally places them in different niches of the tactical scheme of capoeiragem.
